Draft the RFP

We collaborate with stakeholders to draft a framework that will provide an indirect or cy pres benefit to the injured class and has a nexus to the underlying facts and law of the case.

Cy Pres Settlement Funds ensures that the RFP is broadly accessible to potential grantees and also works with distribution partners to circulate the grant opportunity to diverse communities and entities.

Conduct outreach

Through a series of events, promotional activities, paid placement and targeted research on potential grantees with a nexus to the case, Cy Pres Settlement Funds ensures that the grant opportunity is broadly circulated.

This approach helps ensure that there is a sufficient quantity of defensible, high-quality grant applications that can be recommended to the Attorney General’s office and/or plaintiff's counsel.

Review applications

Next, we conduct due diligence, as well as a financial review, of applicants. This includes site visits and interviews with individuals responsible for the proposed project.

Engage experts

We work with subject matter experts who have a thorough understanding of the nexus to the case to assess the feasibility of specific projects or types of projects.

Prepare reports & recommendations

By preparing a Cy Pres Fund Administrator’s Report and Recommendations for the Attorney General's office and/or plaintiff's counsel, we detail the applications received and outline several possible funding options based on our due diligence review, leaving the final decision as to which project(s) to fund to the Attorney General’s office.

Assist with approval

Cy Pres Settlement Funds streamlines the process for the Attorney General's office and/or plaintiff's counsel by facilitating the approval of cy pres grants designated for award recipients.

Execute grant agreements

As the fund administrator, Cy Pres Settlement Funds negotiates, drafts, and executes grant agreements with approved cy pres grantees.

Disburse grantee payments

Once grant agreements have been executed according to the terms of the grant agreements, Cy Pres Settlement Funds requests, documents and disburses grantee payments.

Review grantee reports

As part of the grant-making process, Cy Pres Settlement Funds reviews cy pres grantees’ status reports and requests additional information, as needed, to monitor the progress of approved cy pres grants.

Additionally, Cy Pres Settlement Funds disburses and documents additional grantee payments.

Disburse additional funds & prepare reports

Final grantee disbursements are handled by Cy Pres Settlement Funds, as is the preparation of periodic reports. This includes a Final Report to the Attorney General’s office and/or plaintiff's’ counsel and, if required, to the Court, detailing the status of each cy pres funded project.
